It's unbelievable what can affect certain people.
It scares me sometimes
These tapes make me think about what to say next...

Anonymous said...

There's only a couple people who would possibly be putting these up for everyone to see.
I think I know who it is.

Anonymous said...

well so who do u think it is? i check this site every thirty mins for a new tape. i'm actually rereading the book right now!

So far her reasons for killing herself aren't very good.

Adrianna said...

Its a book? I'm so confused..

Anonymous said...

Yes, it's just a book. It's not based on a true story. The book is called "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher.

Okay, the girl from the book, she's giving HORRIBLE reasons why she killed herself so far.
Wah wah wah You were nice to be but then I realized you were nice to everybody so I'm going to kill myself wah wah wah

You're an idiot. Did you even read the book? Clearly not. How about you get the full story before going online and posting hate mail.

The tapes posted here are about 5% of the ACTUAL tapes from the book.

Okay first of all--these would be good only if they stated the whole story. They just sound dumb because its like the last half and that's it. I mean why WOULDN'T you put the whole story? it's not even like any of them are that long..it doesn't even make sense because it has the second part but not the first part but it talks about the second part so no one knows what you're talking about. like Marcus's tape. It says "doesn't that sound familiar? isn't that how i convinced myself not to take my survey out of the box?" or something like that--and she didn't even explain about the surveys. these are kind of dumb if you ask me.

and yes, I have read the book, and I completely agree that her first 8 reasons or so makes her look like a sissy. those things happen to everyone--she could have sucked it up and stopped whining. The real reasons, that make you feel bad for her instead of make fun of her, are the last few. she still does seem a little like shes having a pitty party.

don't get me wrong I loved the book, and it was really good, and I actually cried at some parts, but if you think about it, it is kind of ridiculous sometimes.

I totally agree. These tapes make it sound like she's looking for reasons, when in the book, her reasons are tragic. If I were her, I would have done the same thing.

I love how they make it sound like Marcus is on here for almost standing her up.

They also make it sound like her 'reputation' is in her head.

For those of you who didn't read the book.. he moved her to a booth.. and started to put his hand up her leg. She told him to stop and he wouldn't.. she had to literally shove him out of the booth to get him to stop touching her.

I didn't just mean these tapes. I mean..even in the book--her first 8 reasons are somewhat stupid. everyone gets a reputation, they just have to learn how to deal with it. She should have sucked it up.

Anonymous said...

Obviously she should have dealt with it better. Anyone who commits suicide should have dealt with things in a better way.
The book is her side of the story though and she wouldn't need to suck it up if they didn't treat her that way.

Adrianna said...

Oh, so let's blame the victim. You have no idea what those things are like, and you don't know what it's like to have to deal with guys trying to molest you clearly.

This audio starts on p. 93 of the book

I kind of agree about the first few reasons. They're not the biggest reasons ever for killing yourself. But the thing is, Hannah even admits towards the end that she is putting the blame on other people. When it comes down to it, the only one she should blame is herself. But it's her side of the story - of course she would have excuses why it's not her fault. It's what most people would do.

almost all suicides seem avoidable to the outstanders that does not suffer from the illness.. ILLNESS.. depression makes one see the world in a shade of colour.. normal healthy people tend not to understand why one with depression may take things more personal.. or get offended much more easily.. being paranoid and uber sensitive towards other people's actions is only one of the many signs that someone is suffering from depression.. xxx

Anyone who commits suicide is completly lost...

Anonymous said...

Nadia that is soo true!

I think if Tony was the one who put the tapes up, then someone later on didn't pass on the tapes.

Depression is not something you can just "suck up" and get over. You may have all been 'touched' by the book but it's pretty clear that none of you have ever been depressed. If you would, you'd know how shattering it is every time you hear someone say that people just need to get over it.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the above commentrr! u cant just suck up depression, its very hard to convince yourself that there is something worth living for when ur feeling so weighted with emotions.

Ok this comment is for the people who thought that Hannah Baker should just "suck it up". Ok yeah reputations aren't that bad, but its not something that you can just suck up. These reasons aren't dumb, people can really be hurt by the same reasons Hannah Baker said. And she's not a "sissy" some people don't have other people to help them, and sometimes they can't stand up for themselves. So I don't know if she had friends or not but like I said those thirteen reasons aren't things you can just "suck up". So yeah you might have read the book but I don't care, she passed away so you shouldn't post shit like that when a)you didn't even know her, you just read the book and b)for telling her to "suck it up" and calling her a "sissy" those are probably some of the reasons she killed herself as well because of name calling. So yeah you guys might think it's no big deal but to other people it really hurts.

I agree!!!!!!!! Alllll the way!!!!!! Hannahs life was ruined - in fact it ended - because of other peoples actions and words and you can't suck up something like that and you can't just day that she shouldve because even if they sound stupid to you....her reasons were obviously good enough to her and that's all that mattered

That One Girl said...

To those who say that her first few reasons were wimpy: Isn't the entire idea of the book is that the tiniest things, the things that you don't think twice about, the little jokes and teases, sometimes that's enough to push someone over the edge? In the book, it's described as a 'snowball effect'. Over time, the tiny things add up into a much bigger problem. She's describing these things because her problem isn't that simple. People are layered beings. It was the small things like Alex's list or Jessica's betrayal that made her begin to not trust people, which is why she felt even more alone.

some of you are acting like shes real.
this website was a bit of fun for those who have read the book, not a hotline.

Whether these tapes are real or fiction- whether Hannah Baker was a character or a real person...it doesn't matter. She was a girl who was clearly sweet and kind; she moved for a new start...a second chance. However, Justin ruined that for her because he brought up a reputation because he kissed a pretty girl and thought he would elaborate on the true events. The hot or not list- sure it is brilliant that she got on the hot side. Is that why you're saying these reasons are pathetic? She seemed happy she had a great 'ass' but the 'snowball' affect as she called it- was that boys decided she was purely nothing- just a slag ready for them. At least that's what they acted like. They are just a few examples. You can comment saying her reasons are pathetic and sissy. But is suicide pathetic and sissy? Suicide is a very serious matter and it takes a big thing to cause someone to do it. A lot of people coward out of suicide- at the end of the day it is a permanent thing. You aren't coming back. So her reasons may not have been massive; I admit they are small. But how do you make something big? You have to add to it and add to it. Isn't that how you make a snow ball...? You start off with a little flake then add and add till you have a full perfect circle- ready to throw back in someone's face. that's what Hannah did. She added each reason together then expressed them on tapes- she made people feel how she felt, she taught them a lesson. You may think a small prank or a joking insult was fun...at the time. It was all over in a moment for you but for the other person. It could stay with them forever because you have no idea how something simple can start something complicated and massive off. Think before you send hate to something that is a serious matter. I hope you feel ashamed for what you said. Hannah may be fictional but it doesn't mean what you said wasn't wrong. This book and these tapes are here to tell people- talk to people who are quiet, smile at those who are upset and if you made them upset...FIX IT. or better yet don't do it in the first place!

You can't just get rid of depression bye 'being more optimistic'. A part of depression is not being able to be optimistic. If you haven't been through this then you can't understand what's happening to the people inside. And when you hear things like these you can't just say 'they just want pity' cause they don't. They just want people to understand...
