It was a falsified compliment. He wasn't saying it because he really meant it, Lynnie, he was saying it because he wanted to hurt her relationship with Jessica. He was trying to hurt Jessica, but it hurt Hannah, also. His actions affected her in a large way, even if she wasn't his direct target.
I really hate all the people that hurt Hannah. I feel bad that Clay never helped her when he could and he didn't want anything more because of her "fake" reputation. These people deserve jail time. This is called bullying people, sexual harassment, rape, criminal negligence, breaking the law, you name it.
Alex was intending to hurt Jessica. Maybe he thought he was doing Hannah a favor. Maybe he thought it was a compliment. But really, his actions effected Hannah in ways he never could have imagined.
Usually, its not a bullet wound you could heal its all the millions of paperclip cuts that lead you to do it, to commit suicide... it all seems so insignificant the things we say to other people but what we don't know is maybe that person is at his or her breaking point and what you said might lead up to what Hannah went through... this book is an eye opener that we need to be careful with our words and to not be scared to go up to someone like clay was cause what if that's exactly what the person needed? Committing suicide is not the answer cause someone might love you like clay loved Hannah and u just might not know it yet.x

I hate to say it, but what alexz did wasn't that bad.
I get that there is a 'bigger picture' here or whatever, but come on. It's a compliment, not a smear.

This is actually Cassette 1: Side B (see p 36) in book
Sometimes, the smallest things can really hurt people. It may not seem like much at the time, but all the little things can really add up.
if you think that it wasnt that bad, then you are really messed up.
I Can see lynnies point...it was a compliment...but still that and everything else really messed Hannah up

these aren´t the full cassettes, there´s a lot more in the book than on these short clips, does anyone know where I could find the whole thing?
Hearing her voice adds a whole other dimension to the books :)
Wait did this really happen or are these tapes kust made with the book
It's kinda like fan fiction, but it's for people who were so touched by her story that Hannah was made real for them.
